Creating a Flower gardenEver more people spend time on flower gardening these days. Growing flowers can be a fantastic past-time; they will put a shine to your day and you can enjoy their wonderful smell. Flower gardening is a fun experience, as it is easy and cheap. You can do flower gardening as a hobby, as a professional, or just to decorate your drive. You have to decide on a few things to be able to make a good start on flower gardening. For example, you need to know whether you prefer annuals that need replacing every year as they last only one season, or perennials that will flower again next year as they can withstand a winter’s frost. Before you buying or plant you need to find out which flowers do well in the climate of your local area, and whether they like sun or not. You also have to make a decision on how you want your garden to look, before you start planting your flower garden. A “wild-plant style”, which can be enchanting, will create an open meadow feel with it’s mixed color and heights, and combination of varieties. By planting taller flowers behind short varieties your can create the “stepping stone style”. It’s possible to find and buy seeds for flower gardening in a nursery, as well as in catalogues. A lot of people plant small real flowers bought in the nursery. Once you have bought the flowers or your choice and have made your garden ready for planting, it is advisable to first arrange the flowers to your liking on top of the soil, making sure you cover the space available. The easiest thing to do in flower gardening is planting: all you do is spread the seeds on the soil of the flower bed. You have to dig some holes, a bit bigger than the flowers you have bought, and transplant them without the container with the roots in the ground. Spread some soil around it before firmly pressing it down, and add some water. Planting a flower garden is at least as easy as maintaining one, in other words: not difficult at all! Spreading a good amount of fertilizer in the beginning of spring would do good, however many flowers grow well without. Water your flowers regularly, and take out any flowers that have finished blooming. If you keep your garden free of debris and use the organic compounds of compost or peat moss on the soil, next year’s season will be a lot easier and less work. Remember to mix the fertilizer well with the soil by turning it over, and flatten the soil with a rake. Try not to disturb the roots of the perennials you have planted while doing this. In flower gardening, there are only 3 simple rules: choose your plants, put them in the soil, and water them! Flower gardening has become very popular without a doubt, and it will barely demand any green thumbs while it get you lots of healthy fresh air.
